Let’s party!

(I know it is in the title, but totally worth repeating!)

With Prosecco!

(Again, I know I said that in the title, but it’s important.)

Let’s have some fun!

I have written a lot on sparkling wines. A LOT!

They’re great. The bubbles are just like a party on to themselves.

Short guide to Prosecco.

It is a sparkling wine from Italy using the Glera grape. Yep, a grape most people have never heard of.

(If you want to win a wine trivia contest know that the grape was actually called Prosecco until 2009. It was a whole EU issue. Important to them but not you.)

The Prosecco is made using the tank method. It is not made like Champagne or what is known as Méthode Champenoise. It doesn’t use the same grapes.

(If you really want to know more, read the post The Best Sparkling Wine Guide.)

How it is made and the grape type is irrelevant to The Most Important Questions:

Is it delicious to you? How can you have fun with it?

I haven’t always been a huge promoter of Prosecco on its own. Narrow thinking on my part.

It definitely plays really well with others! It is fun!

It can be the best buddy at a mixed drink party.

Do NOT stress about how good the Prosecco may taste on its own. You don’t want awful, of course. “Just fine” will do.

Also, ignore complicated recipes. Just go for it.

Here are THREE insanely fun and delicious ideas with Prosecco:

1-Bellini Bar

A Bellini is a drink often made with Prosecco and peach pureé. It is usually a brunch option for those who don’t want a mimosa.

There are tons of variations!

A Bellini Bar gives a whole bunch of options at one time. Peach and more!

Anything that is make your own screams party!

Provide the prosecco and offer some of these on the side:

White Peach pureé for the purists

Fresh homemade peach pureé (for those who want no added sugar)

Pear Pureé (a little pale looking but delicious)

Apricot Pureé (seriously good)

Mango Pureé (beyond delicious)

Strawberry Pureé (you can make your own from frozen or fresh strawberries)

Come up with your own ideas too! Serve with fresh peaches if you want. So many great choices.

2-Prosecco and Limoncello

Let’s keep the Italian feel going. Limoncello is an Italian liqueur made from (guess what?) lemons. It is mostly from Sorrento, Italy so you can keep that Mediterranean theme going if you want.

Vacation vibes can make for a fun party!

I love a limoncello martini.

Do not make a pitcher of these. It goes down way, way too easy.

There are many suggestions of mixing Prosecco with hard liquor instead of liqueurs or fruit. Add it to a hot day and you will have people passing out in your home.

Play around with the amounts until you have a delicious drink. Add fresh lemon juice if you want. Maybe some fresh berries. THIS, is a fun party drink.

You can also make a Negroni spritz along these same lines. Mix Vermouth and Campari with prosecco.

3- Prosecco and Sorbet

There are a ton of variations you can do with this fun concept. Notice I said, sorbet and not gelato. Sorbet has no dairy so it will work better.

Adding a straw is a nice touch!

Not meaning to be a downer, but keep the alcohol low if you are going to use a straw!

Using orange sorbet is probably the best choice. Add some orange liqueur to the prosecco and this is beyond great!

Most lemon sorbet recipes with prosecco seem to add vodka. See above for having guests passing out in your home. Not the way I would go when making a pitcher for a party.

So get the party started with any of these fantastic ideas!
