Let's Put a Spotlight on Wine for Game Time!
Wine for the win!!
Not what you were expecting?!?!
How about this?
Is it still a handball when it’s wine?
Still not what you were expecting?
Wine is so not the first thing people think of when it’s game time!
I’m so tired of everyone talking about Beer and Bites! It is always BEER, BEER, BEER!
Why not wine?
Let’s put wine in the spotlight!
There are so many choices that will shine for Game Time!
Game Time is NOT the time to match the wine with the food!
There is no need to get all matchy matchy with the food and wine. Fine wine really has no place here.
I read an article that matched the best wines with anything you may eat at a Super Bowl party.
No one, and I mean no one, needs a perfect wine to go with a jalapeno popper.
Are you kidding me?!?
People, match the wine with the atmosphere!
Let’s keep it relaxed and fun! REALLY FUN!
I don’t like beer (what a shock!). I will drink most types of hard liquor, but I have no desire to get hammered at what could be a long game. Think lowish alcohol.
I do not expect someone to provide a favorite drink for me when Beer is the order of the day.
Let’s shine a light on some types of wine for a fun game time event.
You know! The kind maybe with a ball and teams and such.
If the “bites” are fatty, you probably want wines that are higher in acid.
THINK SPARKLING:
CAVA
Cava is my go-to inexpensive sparkling wine. It is made the same way as Champagne. Different grapes and made in Spain though.
You do not need Champagne for game time. Break it out at the end if your team wins. For the whole event, choose something else.
Cava is also my first choice to use in a mimosa.
Cava goes with everything beer does.
PROSECCO
Most people love Prosecco. If you are one of them, this is a fantastic choice. They can be like a party in a bottle. In fact, many beer people could get jealous with this choice. Bring a bunch should you want to share. Your call!
LAMBRUSCO
Lambrusco is a sparkling red Italian wine. There are low alcohol options should you want. Some are very sweet so try to find one that matches your taste. It is a food friendly wine that could go with whatever “bites” go with beer. A fun choice.
Want to keep the idea of sparkling? Try these:
Canned Wine Spritzers
Canned Wine Spritzers can be surprisingly good. This way you get the bubbles, the flavor you like, and it is canned. Easy to drink at a party with no need for a glass. Great for those with beer can envy.
Do you like the idea of a can, but want your wine straight, so to speak? Just buy canned wine, sparkling and still.
There are tons of wine varieties available.
How about taking a swig from a small bottle of wine?
How great is this?!?! Small bottles are getting more and more available. This is fun stuff.
Since many of the snacks at a Game TIme party are spicy, think sorta sweet for any white wine. (I detest sweet red wine, but you do you.)
Both of these wines are fantastic choices. They have a slight sweetness to them, and are available at Trader Joe’s wine! WIN!!
Dry Riesling and Gewürztraminer are great wines to choose wherever you can find them. Both work great with a ton of asian foods as well!
Rosé Wines are also a fun choice!
This one is sparkling and from Trader Joe’s!! Goes with everything!
It’s Game Time! Wine should add to it!
Don’t overthink this! Just have fun!
